This sequel of the 2007’s [Rec] happens where the last one left off. It’s the same night and a 4 man SWAT team is sent in. The team is under orders from a Dr. Owen. Once they’re in the building, Owen tells the team to not bother with the masks. They were to distract the people outside. What they’re fighting, a mask won’t protect.

The SWAT team are of course heavily armed. They’re also outfitted with cameras that they can see each other’s point of view from. So the documentary style of filming continues.

**Spoilers ahead, don’t read unless you’ve finished watching the first [Rec]**

While combing over the contents of the penthouse, the SWAT team realizes that they may be dealing with something paranormal. When confronted about this, Dr. Owen reveals he’s not just a doctor but Catholic priest and the building once imprisoned a girl possessed by demons. This movie delves more deeply into the ins and outs of the demon possessions. Frankly it was more scary when you didn’t know why.

It’s really more of the same from the original [Rec] and that’s where it slips. Gone from this first movie is all the suspense. We know what happened. It’s not technically a bad movie but with the suspense gone, it’s not in the first one’s league. .
